The difference it is making in the lives of the children (and mentors) is amazing. Rob Powers is always amazed at how great it feels to get a hug from his Little Brother to start out their time together. One day Rob noticed his Little Brother’s snow-pant overalls were missing a buckle on his shoulder strap. The next week, Rob brought pliers and various other tools and materials and they worked on it for about 10 minutes. Rob, an engineer at Vermont Yankee, explained, “I fix things; it’s what I do. Now I get to fix this with Christopher.” Christopher smiles as he holds the overalls steady for Rob. Then they’re out the door to the playground. Rob and Chris are just one example of the great relationships that have grown between Vermont Yankee and Vernon Elementary.
