{"id":3607,"date":"2023-02-03T23:31:19","date_gmt":"2023-02-03T23:31:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/youthservicesinc.org\/website_b0b5e883\/?p=3607"},"modified":"2023-02-03T23:31:21","modified_gmt":"2023-02-03T23:31:21","slug":"former-bellows-falls-participant-joins-youth-services-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/youthservicesinc.org\/website_b0b5e883\/former-bellows-falls-participant-joins-youth-services-board\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Former Bellows Falls Participant Joins Youth Services Board<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Richard \u201cRicky\u201d Adams, the Director of Technology for Windham Northeast Supervisory Union, recently joined 11 other community members in serving on Youth Services\u2019 board of directors.\u00a0With twenty programs including restorative justice, afterschool mentoring, transitional living, workforce development, counseling and case management, Youth Services, a nonprofit agency celebrating its 50<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary, builds community in Windham County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/youthservicesinc.org\/website_b0b5e883\/website_b0b5e883\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Ricky-option-in-plaid-resized-V.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/youthservicesinc.org\/website_b0b5e883\/website_b0b5e883\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Ricky-option-in-plaid-resized-V.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3605\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Ricky Adams<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adams held various technology-related roles at the Windham Northeast Supervisory Union during the last ten years, and has held the Director of Technology title for the last three. Adams started his career under a technology contractor working for area schools, where he says he built significant knowledge of technology and school operations. A former Bellows Falls Union High School student, Adams explained that his primary drive at WNESU is to help improve technology access and the experience for their students.<br><br>Adams, at age 29, helps lower the age range of the board and comes on with familiarity with some aspects of Youth Services including having been a participant in its after-school program, Ready to Achieve Mentoring Program (RAMP). RAMP is a workforce development program which mentors local youth, exposing them to different careers in the region. \u201cI would say that my Youth Services program involvement helped build long-lasting connections outside of the school community,\u201d stated Adams.<br><br>The former Youth Services participant turned tech-wizard, who lives in Bellows Falls with his fianc\u00e9, Shawna Coutu, looks forward to helping the organization prepare for new challenges ahead as he helps with its mission of being a catalyst for change. \u201cI&#8217;m really excited to contribute to the Youth Services board and give back to an organization that supported me as I transitioned out of high school,\u201d Adams explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRicky is an amazing \u2018home-grown\u2019 asset for our board,\u201d stated Youth Services board president, Ana Saavedra.&nbsp; \u201cWith all his tie-ins to Youth Services we are so very fortunate for Ricky to join our board as his first choice.
